Latest project: I'm recently back from a year of sketching seabirds in New Zealand.
See National Geographic's
story about my project.
See my expedition journal.
Inspired by the recent albatross news, I bring you a Laysan Albatross:
Note: sketched from photographic references (albatross being in short supply in terrestrial Maine).
The shore path is guarded by mockingbird sentries, posted at intervals in the shrubbery.
This sketch is from a few days ago when it was calm and sunny. I wonder if that mockingbird is hunkered down in the same berry bush right now, weathering the 50-mph wind and driving snow. I hope it found a more sheltered spot.
